Product Knowledge: Ribbon Belt

Keep your pants (and shorts) on with this ribbon belt from the Spring 2009 collection. Grosgrain ribbon in a grey and white or yellow and white stripe is accented with a vintage, metal, hook-style buckle. The belt is adjustable from a 30 inch to a 34 inch waist.

Philip Sparks at Parlor Showroom

We’re excited to announce that Philip Sparks will be represented by Parlor Showroom in New York City for the Spring 2010 season. Taylor Thomas and her team rep some great menswear and womenswear lines including Conference of Birds, The Cast and Samantha Pleet.

The new Philip Sparks collection will be at Parlor on July 13.

Spring 2010 Sneak Peek

The Spring 2010 menswear shows in Milan just wrapped and Paris’ presentations start tomorrow so we thought we’d give you a sneak peak of the collection we’ll be debuting in New York this July.

Some of the key words to describe the collection are sportsman, translucent and V-silhouette.

Canada’s summer cottaging lifestyle is a big inspiration. This custom illustrated motif is by textile designer Kerry Croghan. More on Kerry and the print in the coming weeks.

We’re adding bags and other leather goods to the collection. This is the prototype in black vinyl. The real bags will be made out of black and cobalt blue leather with brass tacking.

All Canadian Department Store

More than 25 Canadian clothing and accessories designers are gathering in Toronto for a massive sale this weekend. Lots of our favourite local women’s labels including Karamea, Joeffer Caoc, Mercy and Evan Biddell are participating and Philip Sparks will be there too with our men’s clothing, footwear and accessories. The sale takes place on the third floor of the Burroughes Building (639 Queen West) on Friday (4 pm and 9 pm), Saturday (11 am to 9 pm) and Sunday (11 am to 9 pm).

Balisi opens third Toronto store

Toronto shoe boutique Balisi, which stocks a great selection of Philip Sparks footwear and clothing, launched a third location (439 Danforth) last night. The Greektown shop opens to the public today and carries men’s and women’s shoes, clothing and accessories.

We spotted some Philip Sparks dress shirts, vests and pants on the racks at last night’s party. For Philip Sparks shoes, the Queen West location (711 Queen West) still has the best selection.

Summer Sale

Our Summer Sale at the Showroom Shop (639 Queen West, suite 5005) starts this weekend. Menswear, shoes and accessories (excluding boxer shorts) are 30 per cent off. Stop by on Saturday between noon and 6 pm and Sunday between noon and 5 pm or shop the sale online.

Just in time for Father’s Day, we’re releasing a limited edition men’s boxer short made with spring’s signature plaid shirting. They are 100 per cent cotton and available in sizes extra small to extra large (28” to 38” elastic waist). Product Knowledge: Dress shorts with cargo pockets

Summer weather has finally arrived in Toronto so the time is right to pick up a pair of tailored city shorts. Our dress shorts hit a few inches above the knee and are detailed with cuffs and a pair of cargo pockets integrated into the belt loops. They are available in grey plaid cotton/linen or grey cotton twill.

Inspiration Point: The Age of Adolescence

Photographer Joseph Sterling’s The Age of Adolescence had a big influence on our Spring 2009 collection. The vintage pictures of bored, stylish kids in the 50s inspired the collection’s athletic details, scholastic knits and the longer length of our newsprint jean which lets you roll up a wide, retro cuff.
